Irishman Michael Conlan continued his solid start to the professional boxing ranks with a win this weekend at Madison Square Garden, New York.
Conlan won a comfortable unanimous points decision over 27 year old Spanish opponent Ibon Larrinaga in a performance that showed more control and patience to Conlan’s game than perhaps before.
Fighting under new coach Adam Booth for the second time, it is clear that Conlan realizes he is still very much learning his trade and is not resting on his laurels.
Speaking after the fight Conlan provided this assessment of the fight:
Another win in the bank, very negative opponent who didn’t want to engage from the first bell but got the work done while learning a lot on the job. Few days off then back into camp for the big one. June 30th @SSEBelfastArena not to be missed!! #TheHomecoming pic.twitter.com/bT6qPPJS91

Conlan now moves on to a homecoming fight later in the summer in his native Belfast at Windsor Park – the same card Carl Frampton is scheduled to fight on.
