The Broner v Vargas weigh in took place a short time ago in what is shaping up to be a big weekend of boxing in the US with three substantial fights taking place on the card.
The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York will see the main event take place as well as Jermall Charlo and Gervonta Davis box on the card.
First up on the weigh-in today was Davis and his opponent Jesus Cuellar.
Training under a new trainer Davis made sure that he made the weight this time as opposed to getting stripped of his title last time at a weigh in last year.
Here’s what they weighed in at:
- Gervonta Davis 129lbs
- Jesus Cuellar 129.3lbs
Davis has been linked to a massive showdown with pound for pound star Vasyl Lomacehnko later this year.
Next up was at today’s weigh-ins was Jermall Charlo at middleweight. Charlo’s second fight at 160lbs.
- Hugo Centeno Jr 158.5lbs
- Jermall Charlo 160lbs
The main event saw both Adrien Broner and Jessie Vargas take to the scales and weigh in as (catchweight fight 144lbs):
- Jessie Vargas 143.75 lbs
- Adrien Broner 144.2lbs at first time of trying – he then de-robed and came in at 144lbs.
We have a fight, as they say.
All action will be shown live on Showtime Sports this weekend as part of a Premier Boxing Champions event.
