Fight week has arrived ahead of the heavyweight title unification on Saturday in Cardiff between Anthony Joshua and Joseph Parker and Joshua’s promoter has kicked things off as he always does on a Monday of fight week with a social media update, but has made a slight mistake about one of the contestants’ nationalities.
Kiwi Parker comes into the fight as WBO champion and the man from New Zealand has a strong following in his home country after building up an impressive undefeated record to date.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn signaled fight week on Twitter with the Australian flag, however:
It’s the big one! FIGHT WEEK!!! #JoshuaParker 🇬🇧🇦🇺💥 pic.twitter.com/Kic5mteR6Q
— Eddie Hearn (@EddieHearn) March 26, 2018
An easy mistake to be fair, but with the passionate rivalry between Australia and New Zealand in sporting terms – one that has not gone under the radar from a lot of fans.
Some pointed it out straight away:
Wrong flag mate ??
