Up until the knockout the fight had been very competitive with many believing challenger Ortiz was ahead on the cards.
However that didn’t matter in the end. Deontay Wilder didn’t let it.
He made sure that the bell would not hear the final round with a bone crunching finish in round ten, so kudos to him on that.
However a short time ago after the decision was announced the scorecards revealed that all three of the judges’ had Wilder ahead on points anyway.
Here is what the boxing world has been saying following the news:
Wilder, somehow, was up a point on each card, 85-84, at time of stoppage. Absurd #WilderOrtiz

All three judges had Wilder ahead 85-84, which does not at all match the 86-83 card that both @SteveFarhood and I had.

It’s absolutely abhorrent that Wilder was up on the judges scorecards – I never want to hear anything about ‘home fighters’ in uk shows from the US media because that is embarrassing #WilderOrtiz
