The Sergey Kovalev vs Mikhalkin weigh in took place a short time ago at the Mecca of boxing in the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York city.
Tomorrow night’s WBO light-heavyweight title showdown will be shown live on HBO and will mark Kovalev’s second fight back since losing back to back to Andre Ward in 2016 and 2017.
It’s clearly a fight still in his head after comments made towards Ward earlier this week, with the two still to this day going back and forth with one another in the media.
But first thing is first of course.
Before he can tempt Ward out of any potential retirement to fight him again – he has to get through fellow Russian Igor Mikhalkin this weekend.
Ahead of tomorrow night’s action on HBO here are the weigh-in results for all the fights on the main event (all in US pounds – lbs):
Barrera 173.6, Bivol 174.4
Alexander 167.8, Lee 172.8
Galarza 155.2, Gonzalez 154.6
Kovalev 174.6, Mikhalkin 172.6
Mikhalkin comes into tomorrow night’s fight with a record of 21-1-9KO.
His only defeat as a pro came at the hands of Aleksy Kuziemski all the way back in 2010.
Kovalev comes into the contest with a professional boxing record of 31-2-1-27KO.
