Groves Finally Gives Shoulder Injury Update Following Eubank Fight

Groves Gives Shoulder Injury

George Groves finally gives shoulder injury latest this morning in his first bit of official news on what is going to happen next since sustaining the injury to Chris Eubank Jr.

A little over a week ago Groves suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder in the 12th and final round of his bout with Eubank jr in Manchester.

Groves managed to finish the bout out but fears afterwards were that he would be unable to make the final of the World Boxing Super Series this summer.

It was thought the final was in June, but it appears to have been pushed slightly back to July to give Groves the time he needs to get ready.

And it’s good news.

George Groves updated fans this morning on Twitter saying:

Groves will face Liverpool’s Callum Smith in the final of the World Boxing Super Series where both men will fight for the Muhammad Ali trophy.

Smith booked his place in the final this past Saturday with a points win over a late replacement from the world of kickboxing.

Who it turned out proved to be more than a handful.

This time however Smith will have ample time to prepare for the challenge in front of him.

No doubt both men’s trainers Shane McGuigan and Joe Gallagher will have been studying both fighters over the past few months anyway.

Given the fact many thought it would be these two in the final.

All in all, good news for boxing fans this morning.

It would have been a disaster if Groves was ruled out of the final.
