Today the World Boxing Super Series confirmed that German Juergen Braehmer is out of this weekend’s fight against Callum Smith.
Liverpool man Smith will still fight this weekend in the semi-final of the new tournament but will instead face 34-year-old Nieky Holzken of Holland.
A relative unknown quantity, many boxing fans are not too pleased with the news.
But at the end of the day the late notice did not give the organisers a whole lot to work with.
Braehmer cited the flu as his illness he has been struggling with that caused him to pull out of this weekend’s fight.
Here’s what the boxing world thinks:
If Callum Smith vs Nieky Holzen is still on @ITVBoxOffice then we’ve reached a new low for PPV.

Such disappointing news that Jurgen Braehmer has withdrawn from Saturday’s @WBSuperSeries semi-final. Callum Smith really needed this chance to show how good he is.
Everything was going so well. Devalues Smith’s route to the final now. If Groves then misses out it’s a disaster
