The Liverpool man has been one of a number of high-profile fighters who have sung the praises of Roy Jones following the boxing legend’s last night in the sport.

They say we all have our sell by date in the end and from an active boxing perspective, that has now come for the great Roy Jones Jr.

He ended his career last night on a winning note with a low-key unanimous points win in Florida.

Following the bout, here’s what Tony Bellew had to say about Jones’ career:

Jones can move on to a successful career fully in broadcasting if he so chooses to, as he is already one of the top analysts for HBO boxing and overall, is probably the best analyst in American boxing TV at the moment to be fair.

Where he goes after that who knows but expect to see him in the Hall of Fame in five years time when he becomes eligible after retiring last night.
