Most thought that this whole Mayweather and McGregor MMA saga was just a fad that would die a death in the background but week after week, it somehow is continuing to grow legs.
The pair fought in a boxing match last August at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas where Mayweather won an easy TKO stoppage when he started turning it on midway through the fight and connecting with lead right hands at will on his Irish counterpart.
People knew that Mayweather was going to beat McGegor in a boxing match in their heart of hearts.
Despite the superb hype and build-up from McGregor and the UFC to convince some otherwise.
Likewise, they know he’d never beat Mayweather in boxing but perhaps there could be interest in seeing Mayweather getting battered in a UFC cage by McGregor – for some.
It would certainly generate interest out of sheer novelty if nothing else.
According to Jim White of Talk Sport, the fight is definitely being negotiated in the background:
“My soundings are that there are a lot of talks going on in the background, there are a lot of talks around people with Mayweather.”
“I think it’s going to happen and I think it will be a three, four, five hundred million dollar fight again.”
You’d have to think that if this did happen that Mayweather would receive he beating of all beatings unless McGregor behind the scenes promised to take it easy on him, which would not be surprising either.
The saga rumbles on.
