Reportedly Tyson Fury is making some huge demands for what would be no doubt one of the biggest heavyweight title fights in years.
First thing is first of course.
Tyson Fury must obtain his boxing license again in the new year (which should be fine in all fairness) and get a one comeback fight at least under his belt – after such a long time out of the ring.
Anthony Joshua for his part is involved in negotiations with Joseph Parker at the moment to fight in a unification bout next up.
So any Joshua vs Fury fight will have to wait a little while anyway, at least until the back-end of 2018 at the earliest one would suspect.
Fury is now with a new trainer ahead of his planned return to boxing in 2018 and appears to be taking a more hands on approach himself as regards the negotiations for his fights.
A fight of the proportions of him against Joshua would be somewhere near a 50-50 purse split. One would have thought.
However speaking to ESPN, Eddie Hearn said:
“He (Fury) wants a lot more than a 50-50 split, which is a joke. Second reason is that he can’t get himself into a physical condition which is good enough to fight AJ.”
While negotiations appears to be in their early days at the moment there is no denying that when this fight does happen, it will be gargantuan.
