Jorge Linares Calls Out Vasyl Lomachenko For 2018 Showdown

Did someone order a potential boxing masterpiece? Well, as Jorge Linares calls our Vasyl Lomachenko today – he certainly wants it anyway.

If last weekend’s Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux fight was a let down for fans style-wise, ultimately.

The more offensively minded and always explosive Jorge Linares however would surely make for more entertaining viewing in a battle with Lomachenko.

4-weight world champion Linares must first come through his next challenge of Mercito Gesta in California on January 27th in the early new year, but provided he gets through it, he’s coming for the pound for pound number one.

Speaking on Twitter today, the WBA and Ring Magazine lightweight world champion said:

Of course this would require WBO super-featherweight world champion Lomachenko to move up a weight class, but this has something he’s said in the past will not be a problem for him as his career progresses.

Not only does he have the ability, but he looks to have the frame to at least go to 135lbs. Possibly 140lbs one day when all is said in done, realistically.

Another leading candidate for a fight with Lomachenko next up is undefeated sensation Mikey Garcia.

It’s tough at the top no doubt. The sharks are well and truly circling Lomachenko now.
