Teddy Atlas sounds off with his opinion on the Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux fight with his ESPN colleague Stephen A.Smith.
The bout ultimately let people down with many labelling Rigondeaux as a quitter for not continuing in his bout with Lomachenko due to a hand injury cited to his left hand that he mentioned happened in round 2 of the contest.
Despite this, fans and broadcasters alike have been bombarding the Twitter sphere with less than pleasant comments about Rigondeaux.
Teddy Atlas, always known for his passionate rants, was one of the few who while not exactly defending Rigondeaux, mentioned that the injury should be factored in.
He wasn’t on the broadcast team but still managed to chime in with his epic as usual post-fight analysis, I mean rant:
The fight is not one that fans will be calling for a part two of. That’s for sure.
Lomachenko now moves on to some big opportunities in the future and immediately in 2018 a bout with Mikey Garcia could be one that genuinely interests fans.
Further down the line it has been mentioned that he could even go up to lightweight and junior welterweight. One step at a time but who’s to say he can’t do it?
