Joshua reacts to Joseph Parker and his team’s press conference in New Zealand where they called him out on fight negotiations.
The press conference in question has been getting a lot of publicity this week in the boxing world, for different reasons.
Some commented that it looked unprofessional while others praised WBO heavyweight champion Parker’s promoter for his efforts to get his man’s name out there a bit more.
Heavyweight champion of the world Anthony Joshua doesn’t share the latter view, mind you. Speaking from Dubai he said:
“So what’s so difficult with fighting this little kid (Joseph Parker) doing press conferences talking a load of rubbish? I don’t get it. We work with people. It’s just very unprofessional of them. It’s a shame because boxing has so much credibility. The heavyweight title is a really well respected title to have but stuff like that takes away from the creme de la creme of the sport I think.”
The pair are currently in ongoing negotiations where team Parker have insisted that the lowest they will go is a 65/35 total revenue split of a possible fight, in favor of Joshua that is.
Parker does hold the WBO heavyweight title so the above would seem more than fair considering it’s a unification fight.
