The Errol Spence vs Peterson date, TV channel and location has been pencilled in with all the full details confirmed today.
One of America’s brightest new world boxing stars and indeed one of world boxing’s most talented new world champions on the scene, Errol Spence Jr, will return to his native US for the first time after winning the IBF welterweight title earlier this year in the UK from Sheffield’s Kell Brook.
His opponent Lamont Peterson was confirmed some days ago but now the full details of the fight and event are known.
The two will square off on January 20th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York as part of a Premier Boxing Champions event that will be shown live on Showtime.
The TV action is scheduled to start at 9pm ET / 6pm PT on the night.
Speaking on the announcement, Spence noted today that his goal in 2018 is to unify the welterweight division and fight all the champions.
Peterson spoke of his happiness to return to the ring and of how he wanted the Spence fight for a significant amount of time.
Spence also mentioned that he had sparred Peterson in the amateurs and knows exactly what he brings to the table.
