Soccer player Rio Ferdinand reacts to comments made by Liverpool heavyweight Tony Bellew’s on him getting into boxing.
Rio Ferdinand is currently in preparations for his first venture into professional boxing which is being backed by the gambling company Betfair.
Ferdinand has intimated that the fight might not be just a once off affair, like cricket player Freddie Flintoff’s was a few years ago, and has left the door open for a few fights in the sport.
Ferdinand is well known to world sports fans for his achievements in soccer both for Manchester United and at international level representing his country of England.
He now faces the biggest challenge of his sporting career however when he enters the boxing ring. Something that Tony Bellew recently called “making a mockery of our sport.”
Ferdinand while speaking on the Clare Balding show on BT Sport has responded to the remarks, as well as touching on what advice heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has given him about boxing in the past:
(3 minutes 15 seconds in)
It is not known as of yet who Ferdinand will face for his first opponent but it is understood he has surrounded himself with a qualified training team including former world champion Richie Woodhall.
