The Paul Hyland vs Ormond decision proved to be one of the more controversial in recent Irish and UK boxing memory this weekend.
In what was a cracking fight as a contest, ultimately Paul Hyland Jr got the nod when the decision went to the scorecards at the end of the fight.
This has not gone down well with fans and the boxing world, to put it lightly.
Fighting on the undercard of the Ryan Burnett world title show at the SSE Arena in Belfast, both Paul Hyland Jr and Stephen Ormond put on a show for those in attendance.
After 12 rounds Hyland got awarded a split decision which clearly angered most.
Here is some of the feeling out there at the moment following the fight:
I can’t believe that decision, it’s a disgrace! Stephen Ormond won clearly. #RipOff

Terrible decision! I agree what @davidcoldwell is saying. After the knockdown I thought ormond recovered and took over.

@IBFUSBAboxing can you review the judging in the hyland Ormond fight?.117/110 for hyland is clearly corruption thanks.

The 117-110 card in favor of Hyland Jr clearly proving the major bone of contention in particular. An absurd scorecard.
Perhaps one fighter, Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan (hat tip), summed it up best with this screenshot:
When you know you've been beat! Respect to @PaulhylandJR but 100% wrong man got decision tonight @steormond won @SkySportsBoxing #Disgrace 👎 pic.twitter.com/UT2LxMuXcT

A Hyland vs Ormond rematch is surely in order, one would have thought.
