Two-weight world champion ‘The Jackal’ Carl Frampton announces his new hook up with MTK following recent McGuigan split.
Weeks went by following the split from McGuigan and his family’s promotional company Cyclone Promotions, of which Frampton was a former director in – while fans wondered who the talented pugilist might announce as his new promoter to take his career forward.
That news has now come today firstly in the form of MTK Global as an adviser (headed by ex-boxer Matthew Macklin). Part of the official statement of the announcement can be found here (hat tip MTK):
The news come as an interesting announcement and begs the question is former adviser and US power broker in boxing Al Haymon still involved in Frampton’s career?
He was previously as an adviser, before the McGuigan split at least.
From the outset, it looks like he still is but it isn’t totally clear as of yet. Perhaps it could be a case that Frampton is using MTK as his European adviser and Haymon as his US adviser.
Who Frampton’s promoter will be is not known at this point but recent speculation points heavily to a possible return to former promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sports
Frampton has said that a key part in any promoter securing his services is that he gets the opportunity to box at an outdoor stadium called Windsor Park in his hometown of Belfast.
