Chris Eubank reacts to Callum Smith’s latest win and his first in the World Boxing Super Series in tonight’s quarter finals.

Unbeaten super-middleweight Callum Smith was made to work hard tonight for a win in his hometown that was awarded a unanimous points decision over Eric Skoglund.

The win sees him into the first of the semi-final draws in the new World Boxing Super Series tournament, a tournament which fellow countryman Chris Eubank Jr is also in.

Many are tipping both men as the favorites in the super-middleweight leg of the tournament but Eubank Jr was not impressed with what he saw tonight – saying:

Eubank Jr will fight his first bout of the tournament next month against Turkey’s unbeaten Avni Yildirim on October 7th in Stuttgart, Germany.

Both fighters are on the other sides of the draw to one another but if they kept winning would meet in the final of the tournament where the eventual winner will walk away with the Muhammad Ali trophy.

The other notable super-middleweight in the tournament is another Englishman, George Groves, who might have something to say about that mind you.
