WBO middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders clashes with members of Willie Monroe Jr’s team days out from the fight.

Things got very heated today in the UK as travelling American middleweight challenger Willie Monroe Jr’s team almost got a little too close for comfort with WBO champion Billy Joe Saunders.

Saunders could be seen engaging in verbals with Monroe who was protected by two team members in particular, while Saunders was happy to be on his own during the pushing and shoving that ensued.

Following the pushing and shoving between team members at one point Saunders smacked a baseball cap off the head of one of Monroe Jr’s team members:

Nothing went any further thankfully, which could have led to problems if punches started flying. The usual pre-fight antics that often accompany world title fights in boxing nowadays, all in all.

But both men know how serious the fight is come Saturday night at the Copperbox Arena in London.

Not only is the WBO world middleweight title on the line, but also a possible shot at the winner of Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez who box on the same night across the Atlantic in Las Vegas.
