Dana White Responds To Bob Arum’s Comparison of Mayweather vs McGregor

Comparison of Mayweather vs McGregor

UFC President Dana White responds to Bob Arum’s alleged comparison of Mayweather vs McGregor fight to a boxer vs a basketball player.

Dana White and Bob Arum although having never met one another by all accounts despite living in the same town of Vegas, have had quite a heated relationship over the years in terms of taking shots at one another in the media.

Or at least one another’s promotional companies.

Bob Arum who heads boxing promotions company Top Rank in Las Vegas, according to White made a ‘dumb’ comparison of tonight’s Mayweather vs McGregor fight.

Speaking at an open media scrum ahead of the fight White said:

“Bob Arum, he’s an idiot boxing promoter if you don’t know who he is. He’s a moron. He basically came out and said this is like Anthony Joshua is fighting Lebron James. That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life. He’s said a lot of dumb things but that’s another one.”

A source closed to Bob Arum’s businesses outside of boxing told Boxing News and Views not long ago that Arum reckons tonight’s main event won’t drum up anywhere near the financial windfalls that some are expecting.

Then again, of course he’d say that as a rival promoter.

Whatever the outcome tonight is in terms of what it generates – there’s no denying the interest in the event from a casual sports fan perspective is considerable.
