Claressa Shields sparring against renowned MMA fighter and former champion Cris Cyborg this week in the US.

Double Olympic Gold medallist Claressa Shields is off to a fast start in her pro career but she’s not content to sit around and stagnate – and is testing herself in the gym against a variety of opposition.

Boxers fighting mixed martial arts fighters is in the news a lot as of late, with Mayweather vs McGregor and all, but Shields has also been throwing down with an MMA fighter herself behind closed doors in the gym.

Cris Cyborg is a mixed martial artist from Brazil known for her freakish strength and stand up game within MMA, but as she found out judging by this Claressa Shields sparring clip – throwing hands with a pro boxer is an entirely different game all together:

Big respect to Cyborg for stepping in there with a pro boxer of Shields’ calibre. Cyborg kept coming to her credit.

From a boxing perspective, Shields is currently 3-0 (1KO) since turning pro back in November 2016 and is on the lookout for her next opponent.

Since turning pro Shields has become the first professional female fighter to headline a premium TV cable card in the US.

It was in her 2nd pro fight and the only one that has ended in knockout so far.
