Canelo on going up against Mayweather vs McGregor in the pay per view market that will air a month before his fight with GGG.

Boxing’s popularity will be going through the roof later this summer and in September – when two gigantic pay per view events in the form of Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor and Gennady Golovkin vs Canelo Alvarez roll around.

Both will take place at the same location of the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas less than a month apart in August and September respectively.

Many were taken by surprise at the relatively quick turnaround time for the Mayweather vs McGregor fight from announcement.

Basically only about two and a bit months away now having only been made official last week.

Steeling their thunder, so to speak.

Whether or not it has any big impact on Golovkin vs Canelo pay per view numbers remains to be seen. If you’re a boxing fan, you’ll likely watch both fights to be fair.

For different reasons of course, but to see Golovkin vs Canelo numbers getting drastically effected seems a bit of a stretch to be honest.

When speaking to the media today in their New York press conference, here is Canelo on what he thinks of going up against the Mayweather vs McGregor show (hat tip Fight Hype YouTube):
