Cuban Mike Perez Transforms From Heavyweight To Cruiserweight

Cuban Mike Perez is literally half the man he once was. Once criticized for being an out of shape heavyweight – he has transformed himself.

Many will remember Mike Perez as being a talented heavyweight contender fighting his way up the ranks a few years back only to lose a close split decision to Bryant Jennings in Madison Square Garden.

Then two fights later to suffer a stoppage defeat to Alexander Povetkin.

Not many realize though that Mike Perez has had to contend with a number of personal issues outside the ring and since the loss to Povetin in 2015, he has been diligently working on a secret mission to drop down to the cruiserweight limit all along.

The result as of yesterday’s weigh in ahead of his latest fight with Viktor Biscak tonight – is as dramatic a transformation you’ll see in boxing.

Mike Perez is perhaps one of the most shredded cruiserweights in world boxing you’ll see now. He takes on Biscak tonight in Belfast on the undercard of Ryan Burnett vs Lee Haskins.

Perez has always been a talented operator, well able to punch too. It will be interesting to see how explosive the 32 year old will now be at cruiserweight tonight.
