Boxer Turned Chef Looks To Make It Big In Food Industry

A boxer turned chef isn’t exactly something we hear about everyday in the boxing world but this chap is looking to make a real career change.

Some professional athletes have been able to make the transition from athletic career to the kitchen in the past.

Perhaps the most widely recognized is ex-professional soccer player Gordan Ramsey. After his career playing for Glasgow Rangers as a soccer player he became arguably the most famous chef on the planet.

Maybe someone from the boxing world is now following in his footsteps.

Former junior welterweight Alan Gotay from Huntington in New York has decided to hang up the gloves and open a new restaurant tonight in the US.

It is a Cuban themed restaurant called Babalu. News Day have reported that the ex-fighter is dedicating the restaurant to his grandparents.

Gotay was 8-3 (4KO) as a professional and fought between 2012 and 2016. Best of luck to him on his new venture. It’s not everyday you see a prizefighter make a career move as diverse as this.

Perhaps Gordan Ramsay might be brave enough to get into a ring with him one day – like he did once with former world champion Ricky Hatton here:
