Lomachenko Must Not Take His Eye Off The Ball Against Sosa

Only two days away now until Vasyl Lomachenko squares off against Jason Sosa. A fight Lomachenko must win and one he can’t afford to take for granted.

Should he come through the fight, the bigger bouts that he so desperately craves come a step closer.

Nicknamed ‘Hi-Tech’, Lomachenko is known for his outstanding versatility in the ring and is the reason why so many are raving about him in the boxing community at the moment.

He is currently ranked fifth pound for pound best boxer by BoxRec, sixth by The Ring, and seventh by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board.

(And a little bit higher in our own rankings).

Currently, he has a 7-1 record with 5 knockouts.

Lomachenko will do what he does best this Saturday in my opinion. Overwhelm Sosa to get the victory with blitzing combinations, frightening speed and precocious technique.

Jason Sosa is coming in determined and has proven to be a tough fighter to date. To his credit. I predict he will stand toe to toe with Lomachenko at times but ultimately that will be his undoing.

He does have more experience in terms of pro fights compared to Lomachenko, but don’t let that fool you. Lomachenko has much more amateur experience.

Lomachenko is the clear favorite to win and retain his title, certainly, but he doesn’t need an awkward banana skin this weekend if he switches off at any point in the fight.

If he wins and looks good in doing so, a unification world title fight against the winner of Gervonta Davis and Liam Walsh later in 2017 could be in the pipeline.
