Report: Tim Bradley vs Errol Spence Ordered By The WBC

Did someone say Tim Bradley vs Errol Spence in 2017? Yes indeed. It is looking quite likely as of today.

What a great fight it would be too.

One that pits two world class American welterweights against one another in the classic older lion vs younger lion match up.

The WBC convention has been taking place this week in Miami, Florida and a lot of news and activity in the boxing world has been coming out of it thus far.

Respected journalist Lance Pugmire has revealed that Tim Bradley vs Errol Spence has been ordered by the WBC on Twitter today:

So @wbcmoro orders @Timbradleyjr vs. @ErrolSpenceJr in WW division…Moretti says Spence in talks with @SpecialKBrook.

Interesting to note that Spence is also in talks with IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook too, according to Pugmire.

Initially it was thought that Brook would not be returning to 147lbs following his loss to Gennady Golovkin at middleweight this year, but Brook himself here confirmed that he actually wants the Spence Jr fight at welterweight.

The implications for this could take precedence over any potential Tim Bradley vs Errol Spence fight from happening for the WBC title in the very immediate future, as by last reports Spence is still mandatory for Brook’s IBF title.

Two excellent fights though that put the highly touted Spence Jr in an excellent position career-wise.

He last competed back in August when he knocked out Leonard Bundhu in New York in scintillating fashion. Bradley last fought in April of 2016 on route to dropping a points decision to Manny Pacquiao.
