David Haye On Tony Bellew: He’s A Coward

Published On November 25, 2016 | By Niall Doran | Boxing News, Boxing Views and Opinion

David Haye on Tony Bellew today went full blast on his opinion of the Liverpool WBC cruiserweight champion of the world, as did Bellew of Haye.

It’s not often you’d hear another boxer call another one a coward.

But David Haye went there today in his first TV debate with close UK rival Tony Bellew ahead of their March 4th heavyweight fight in the new year at the 02 Arena in London.

Speaking to Sky Sports News David Haye on Tony Bellew:

“He’s a coward. He realizes what’s going to happen on the night. I’m going to absolutely destroy him. You know it’s all big talk prior to the fight. Now that the fight is signed I can already feel him sort of cowering away because he knows the task at hand – too big, too strong, too fast, too powerful and he’s going to end up knocked spark out.”

Palpable animosity

To which Bellew replied:

“A coward? Are we talking about the same person here? A coward? Listen you clown there’s only one coward here and that is you. Don’t winge about no sore toe this time. When the blows get traded you’ll get no excuses from me. You just be prepared to go to the level I’m going to go to. There ain’t no cowards here. The only coward is you and that clown of a haircut.”

Many fans have been vocal about the apparent WWE theme already surrounding the UK pay per view fight. Both men are known for been two of the most vocal in British boxing.

Some have suggested that the fight will be a very one sided affair in Haye’s favor. The Londoner has already opened up a strong favorite with bookmakers.

However others are pointing to the fact that Haye has not fought a credible opponent in nearly 5 years. When he fought Dereck Chisora – which could potentially give Bellew more of a chance some fans have mooted online.

Time will tell.
