Former WBA heavyweight world champion David Haye says it’s the Anthony Joshua fight ideally he wants next.
The fight would be an undeniably big fight in the UK and indeed in world boxing, given the reputation and name of both fighters and one that would surely promise fireworks given both boxer’s explosive fists.
There is the school of thought out there by some fans at the moment that the Haye fight is a little early for Joshua but then again if he is currently in talks to face someone like Wladimir Klitschko, him and his team obviously feel is now ready to take on the best of who’s available in the division.
That’s a weight class minus it’s main man Tyson Fury at the moment mind you, but nonetheless, a red hot division once again given the amount of new contenders starting to break through.
News is still being awaited on what the WBA (World Boxing Association) are going to do regarding their previous ‘Super’ champion Tyson Fury’s relinquishment of their title, as talks of a possible Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko fight hinge on their verdict at the time of this article.
But speaking to Sky Sports yesterday David Haye has also unexpectedly thrown himself into the Anthony Joshua mix saying:
(Hat tip to the Sporting Life YouTube channel for picking up on this):
Haye may come as a bit of a dark horse opponent for Joshua in December, but as he’s planning to fight himself on December 10th and still has no opponent himself – stranger things have happened.
We predicted he could be in the running for the Joshua fight a few weeks back here for these reasons.
The waiting game continues of course, but should a Haye and Joshua showdown happen in the near future or even in 2017, expect it to sell out rather quickly.
