Kell Brook Back In Training After Broken Eye Socket From Golovkin

IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook back in training following a 5th round stoppage loss last month. The defeat saw him suffer a broken eye socket at the hands of middleweight knockout artist Gennady Golovkin.

Brook stepped up in weight by an entire two weight classes last month to challenge ‘GGG’ in London’s O2 Arena and despite coming into the bout as a heavy underdog, he gave more than a good account of himself early on before the fight was stopped.

He landed some massive uppercuts in particular on Golovkin who although said after the fight didn’t feel them, must surely have just been trying to keep face.

Alas, Brook had to be pulled out by his trainer Dominic Ingle in round five due to what turned out to be this horrific broken eye socket injury.

But Ingle and Brook are back in the gym already working together on the pads as this Instagram post from Kell Brook shows here:

After the fight Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn initially said that his man would return in 2017 at super-welterweight but in recent times there has also been talk of Brook going back down to welterweight to take on American Errol Spence.

Spence is Brook’s mandatory challenger for the IBF welterweight title at the moment and a man on a mission himself.

Perhaps 2017 could also hold the elusive ace fight that has been the Amir Khan bout for Kell Brook which has eluded the boxing public for many years.

It could make logical sense from a timing perspective now more than ever.
