Ortiz vs Scott Confirmed For Multi-World Title Monte Carlo Card Nov 12th

Ortiz vs Scott has been officially confirmed this morning by Ortiz’s new promoters in the UK Matchroom – as part of an action packed card on November 12th.

Previously it was thought that Luis Ortiz would be taking on Carlos Takam but that was quickly shelved over the weekend.

Undefeated Cuban heavyweight Ortiz (25-0-22KO) instead will now take on American Malik Scott (38-2-1-13KO) for the WBA Inter-Continental heavyweight title.

The signing of Luis Ortiz by promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport was his first signing of an international fighter since getting into boxing over the last five years or so and it will be interesting to see if this new international expansion in the sport continues.

Also on the card on November 12th will be a whopping three title fights.

The first will involve WBA bantamweight world champion Jamie McDonnell defending his title against Liberio Solis.

Further good news has come for Liverpool’s Stephen Smith who’s also on the bill. He has secured a second tilt at a world title in the form of challenging WBA super-featherweight champion Jason Sosa.

The third title fight on the night will be a rematch between WBO international super-middleweight champion Arthur Abraham and St.Helen’s Martin Murray.

All in all, a fairly solid night’s boxing to look forward to in Monte Carlo. An already exciting month of November overall for the sweet science just got a bit more exciting.

The month of November also has big fights in the States to look forward to such as Kovalev vs Ward, Pacquiao vs Vargas and Lomachenko vs Walters.

There is continued speculation too that just after November, in the beginning of December, that Anthony Joshua will take on Wladimir Klitschko in a potentially massive heavyweight showdown.

But as we detailed in recent days on Boxing News and Views, don’t be surprised if the fight is against David Haye, or it if it against Klitschko – don’t be surprised if Haye is on the same card.

Boxing looks like it is well on course to finish the year with a bang.
