Confirmed: Fury Out of Klitschko Rematch – Declared ‘Medically Unfit’

The news has officially been confirmed that boxing fans had feared today, after rumours circulated that the Fury vs Klitschko rematch had been postponed again.

The story initially broke from ESPN’s Dan Rafael today on Twitter, but now Tyson Fury’s promoter Hennessy Sports has released the following statement online detailing the reasons why:

Fury Out of Klitschko Rematch

This will come as a bitter blow to Fury who had worked incredibly hard to get himself where he is today as lineal heavyweight champion, after having gone through all this before with bad luck in boxing years ago when David Haye famously pulled out twice of mega pay per view events with him.

Fans who had tickets for the fight will also will be gutted by this news but these things happen in professional sports from time to time, unfortunately.

It is unclear at this particular time what the actual illness is that Tyson might be suffering from but as per the above statement from Hennessy Sports, privacy and space are something that should be afforded to him during what must be an absolutely crippling emotional time in his career – after finally becoming heavyweight champion last year.

Everyone at Boxing News and Views would like to wish Fury a speedy recovery from whatever illness he is suffering from and hope to see him back in the ring soon.

No comment has come from team Klitschko as yet but we’ll keep you updated in the days ahead as this story develops.
