Robert Guerrero at 33 years of age has been in a number of wars in his career given his fan friendly, come forward and all action fighting style.
This has seen him become a multiple weight world champion and has even faced the likes of Floyd Mayweather, but last night, perhaps father time started to catch up with Guerrero a little bit.
The southpaw welterweight employed some of his usual tactics early on in terms of his aggressiveness, but just didn’t seem capable of adapting to Peralta’s style as the fight progressed, clearly frustrating him throughout a scrappy bout.
Peralta found a home for his right hand on Guerrero at times and looked to be the more tactically adept boxer on the night, in what was a fairly close fight overall.
Guerrero was meant to win this one and was expected to be back in line for a big fight at 147lbs, but David Peralta had other ideas and now moves on to big things following the most significant win of his professional boxing career so far.
