Dillian Whyte vs Hughie Fury Not Happening

The British Boxing Board of Control ordered the Dillian Whyte vs Hughie Fury fight for the British heavyweight title this week, however Hughie’s father and trainer Peter Fury has said on social media that the fight will not be happening.

A fight between the exciting British heavyweight contenders would likely have resulted in an entertaining spectacle for fight fans, but it doesn’t appear like it will now be happening – just yet anyway:

@DillianWhyte can go for British titles. @hughiefury will step aside. Good luck champ.

My reasons are clear to those who count. Sorry if I don’t go into details with our reasons. Especially the key board wanna be boxers lot.

It would appear that the reason is due to Hughie being sick at present, with Dillian Whyte wishing his domestic rival a speedy recovery:

No problem big @peterfury hope hugie get well soon who wants to fight me for the British tittle @DavidPrice_1@dellboychisora#letsgetiton

As Whyte mentioned above, other domestic rivals are still out there for him and there is a nice crop of British heavyweight contenders forming at the moment, those underneath the world level pool of the likes of Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

Whyte (16-1-13KO) last fought before Christmas at London’s O2 Arena when he was stopped by Anthony Joshua, with Hughie Fury’s (20-0-10KO) last outing coming very recently at the Copper Box Arena in London when he outpointed Fred Kassi.
