Golovkin vs Canelo Talks

WBC Order Canelo and Golovkin Teams To Reach Agreement By May 24th

Good news for boxing fans has come in the way of a WBC order on negotiations for one of the best fights available in boxing at the moment to be made within a 15 day deadline.

It would appear from latest reports that negotiations are already proving a tad difficult between both the Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin camps to get a mouthwatering middleweight unification title fight made.

However, as reported by Boxing Scene WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman has said that both teams were notified by the WBC through letter (after last weekend) that the 30 day free negotiation period commenced on May 9th and if after 15 days into this period (May 24th) they have still not reached a deal, then a purse bid hearing will then be held.

This news comes amidst growing fan pressure to see the fight made, with pressure increasing by the day following Canelo’s spectacular win last weekend against Amir Khan.

It is not clear when a potential bout could take place, but September has been heavily speculated as a possible month.
