Knockout of the Year Candidate Alert: Mason Menard KO

Every now and then you see a knockout that would put a horse to sleep. This past Friday night in New York saw one such fistic explosion detonate on another human being.

This weekend just gone, American lightweight Mason Menard (31-1-23KO) took on previously unbeaten Dominican Republic’s Eudy Bernardo (21-1-15KO) in Verona, New York.

Not only did Menard take Bernardo’s ‘O’ on Showtime Sports, but did so in spectacularly brutal fashion with an overhand right hand straight out of the gates of hell.

It was a perfectly timed counter over hand right, with maximum leverage, that came straight over the top of Bernando’s over extended left jab within a split second.

Bernardo unfortunately had to be removed from the arena on a stretcher following the blow as a precaution, but thankfully it was reported that he was then okay afterwards and was awake and responsive in a nearby hospital.

Here is the moment that the show was closed by Menard, in what will surely be on many a list for candidates for knockout of the year come the end of 2016:
