The fight proved to be a solid win for Warrington in the end, although one of the scorecards bizarrely reading 120-107 in his favour proved a big bone of contention with fans afterwards.

Amagasa a former world title challenger, made it in an entertaining fight with the local favourite from start to finish, but Warrington was never in danger of losing the fight in truth.

Afterwards the Leeds man admitted he had one eye on a world title fight with IBF champion and fellow Matchroom stablemate Lee Selby, which has been highly touted for some time now.

A fight between Warrington and the world champion from Wales now looks set to be made later this year following Warrington’s latest win.

Josh Warrington improved his unbeaten record to 23-0 (4KO) with his victory over Amagasa.
