Billy Joe Saunders Injured and Out Of Next World Title Defense
WBO world middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders has sustained an injury in the run up to his latest world title defense which has forced him out.
Billy Joe Saunders (23-0-12KO) has been forced out of his upcoming April 30th showdown with Mateusz Masternak through injury:
Saunders was quoted as saying today:
“I’m bitterly disappointed. This is boxing and these things happen.”
There has been speculation previously that a summer showdown with Gennady Golovkin could be in play in the UK which would see a unification of both’s men’s middleweight titles, but will obviously now be dependent on the extent of Billy’s injury.
Saunders won his WBO middleweight title last December with a points decision over Irish Andy Lee.
