Many will remember the UK’s Nigel Benn in boxing circles, one of the most destructive super-middleweights that Britain ever produced. But the former world champion now has a son called Conor who’s turning pro who’s looking to follow in his father’s footsteps.
It might seem odd to some that the sons of both legendary UK warriors Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn have both ended up as prize fighters, but it just goes to show – fighting is in the blood.
Chris Eubank Jr has gone on to establish himself as a top professional in recent years, and it would appear Matchroom Sport are getting on board another father-son boxing story line to promote, with their excellent new video on Conor Benn below.
Conor, who’s lived in both Spain and Australia, really comes across as a hungry young fighter who likes to have a brawl (similar to his dad’s style in the ring).
He’ll make his professional debut on April 9th on pay per view live on Sky Box Office, on the undercard of the IBF heavyweight title fight between Charles Martin and Anthony Joshua.
Anyway, enough of our guff, check out this excellent short special feature by Matchroom on Britain’s latest boxing father-son protege, Conor Benn:
