Kathy Duva Says Madiyar Ashkeyev Can Be The Next Big Thing Out Of Kazakhstan

Main Events Inks Deal for Super Welterweight Prospect Madiyar Ashkeyev

Main Events continues to add to their stable of young prospects with the signing of Madiyar Ashkeyev (2-0, 1 KO) of Kazakhstan. The 27-year old now resides in Oxnard, California and trains at the Robert Garcia Gym along with Main Events’ stablemates Dmitry “The Mechanic” Mikhaylenko and Vasily “The Professor” Lepikhin.

Madiyar made his professional debut on Dec. 12 with a second round KO of Tavorus Teague in Glendale, California. In his most recent bout, he scored a six-round unanimous decision victory over Obafemi Bakare in Studio City, California. Before becoming a pro, he also competed in the World Series of Boxing.

He said:

“I would like to thank Main Events and my manager, Egis Klimas, for this opportunity. I am excited to fight in America and this is the first step towards fulfilling my dream of becoming a world champion.”

Ashkeyev is managed by Egis Klimas, who also manages Main Events’ stablemate and WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion, Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev. Regarding the signing Klimas said:
