Andre Ward To Fight Sullivan Barrera In First Light Heavyweight Fight
‘SOG’ looks set to take on the talented undefeated 175lbs Cuban on March 26th in his hometown of Oakland, California.
Ryan Burton of Boxing Scene has reported the news that Ward will return on March 26th, and will likely headline a bumper night of boxing action live on HBO.
To those not familiar with Sullivan Barrera, he will represent a good first test for Ward who will fight at the 175lbs weight limit (fully) for the first time ever.
33 year old Cuban Sullivan Barrera, is 17-0 (12KO) as a professional and has notable stoppage wins over the likes of Karo Murat and (all be it against a very faded) Jeff Lacy.
Ward last fought in June of last, when he comprehensively shut down Englishman Paul Smith in a catchweight bout on route to a 9th round TKO victory.
