Conqueror of the UK’s Kevin Mitchell and reigning WBC lightweight champion of the world Jorge Linares was in explosive form in front of a partisan crowd last night in Venezuela

The big hitting 135lbs maestro was in scintillating form last night to the delight of his home fans, when he stamped his authority on the lightweight division once again.
Three-weight world champion Linares made his mark on the fight early doors against the out matched Mexican Ivan Cano, hurting him in the very first round.
The second round saw some fight back from the 32 year old Mexican, who landed some decent right hands, but Linares was a man possessed and out muscled and punched Cano as the bout warmed up.
That warmth turned to a red hot fire by the third, when Linares’ punching artillery sent the challenger to the canvas, who beat the count but barely hung on to survive the end of the round.
It was only a matter of time for him however, as Linares sunk in a wincing left hook to the body in the fourth which did serious damage to Cano, prompting the referee to wave off the fight.
Linares now moves to 40-3 (27KO) and is possibly knocking on the door of the top ten pound for pound fighters on Earth list, after another dominant performance churned in from the three weight world champion.
With WBO lightweight champion Terry Flanagan from the UK winning on the same weekend, also via an impressive stoppage, a unification matchup between the two could be a logical fight to in the near future perhaps.
