World Title Glory One Step Away For Stephen Smith
Last night Liverpool’s Stephen Smith ensured that he’ll be getting a crack at the IBF featherweight title next up
The 30 year old Scouser did so in excellent fashion, stopping previous world title challenger Devis Boschiero in 6 dominating rounds.
The man from Liverpool stamped his authority on the contest right from the get go in front of his home fans, and had Boschiero on the deck twice in only the second round.
More of the same continued in the third and fourth rounds, and by the fourth, Boscherio was sporting a painfully looking swollen eye and towards the end of the round, was forced to take a knee from the punishment he was taking.
Despite the obvious pain he was in, Boschiero battled on bravely in the fifth, in a bid to perhaps catch the superior Smith one big shot yo get himself out of trouble.
That wasn’t meant to be however.
The sixth round spelled the end for the brave Boschiero when Stephen Smith landed a peach of a body shot, a perfectly timed left to the ribs – which Boschiero got up from only to go down again a short time later, bringing about the stoppage.
Stephen Smith is now set to get his dream world title shot and at 30 years of age, looks to be in the prime of his career.
