The cancer surviving super-middleweight warrior was able to get back in the winners column, with a wide shutout win against Mexican Marco Antonio Rubio.

The result was never in any real doubt in the end, as Anthony Dirrell (brother of Andre) showed his pedigree in a very solid performance.
Dirrell invested in some eye catching body shots early on, followed by some well placed jabs to the head and body, and some tasty looking straight right hands, which at times were followed by flush hooks – that the ever game Rubio soaked up.
Anthony Dirrell just looked the bigger, more fresh, skillful boxer on the night.
He showed why not long ago he was a world champion, having bounced back from losing his belt previously to Badou Jack (who faces George Groves this weekend on the Mayweather vs Berto bill).
The scorecards were unanimous over the 10 rounds, all in favour of Dirrell: 100-90.
Rubio looked a little shop worn at this late stage of his professional career which is understandable, given the fact he’s been in a lot of wars through the years. Perhaps the 160lbs limit might be better suited to him, also.
