After a lot of recent speculation regarding GGG’s next opponent, Gennady Golovkin vs David Lemieux has been officially announced for October 17th at the iconic Madison Square Garden in New York. A matchup pitting two colossal hitters against one other.

It will come as good news for eager fight fans looking to see a legitimate test for Golovkin, who although has taken the world by storm in recent years with his talent and precocious power, has come in for some flack in some quarters for not taking on enough hard tests.

Well, that goes out the window here. Montreal power punching IBF world champion Lemieux, is arguably one of the biggest hitters in the middleweight division other than GGG, and indeed in world boxing.

The school of thought among some observers on GGG is, the best chance of beating him is by going for broke and trying to knock him out, as despite his marvelous footwork, patience and ring craft (to back up his brick fists), has shown a susceptibility to getting hit in the past.

No matter how tough you are or how good a chin you have, getting hit a lot (flush) from someone like David Lemieux isn’t advisable.

Coming into this fight both men are in supreme form, both are champions and – both are elite level knockout artists within the prizefighting sphere.

Those three variables alone, could guarantee for some genuine middleweight carnage when these two 160lbs powerhouses collide on October 17th.
