New IBF Champion Of The World Caleb Plant Wins TWICE In One Night

Caleb Plant of Las Vegas became the new IBF Super-Middleweight champion of the world on Sunday night with a slick unanimous points decision win in California over previous champion Jose Uzcategui at the Microsoft Theatre in LA.

Plant was able to impose not only his will but game plan on the night as he brought the fight on the inside when he needed to and controlled distance well as the fight progressed.

He also dropped the former champion for only the third time in his career early on in the bout.

When the scorecards read out in Plant’s favor he understandably dropped to his knees with the gravity of the accomplishment.

A man who has overcome as much heartache as anyone in their life — a real win for one of the good guys in the sport undoubtedly.

Following the fight Plant said:

“I’ve worked my whole entire life for this. I buried my daughter in the process of trying to get this belt. I promised I would bring her this title and that is what I am going to do.”

In more good news for the new champion he also won in a second way after the fight finished.

Backstage in the locker room he proposed to his girlfriend and reporter for Premier Boxing Champions Jordan Hardy — who said yes.
