Mayweather Claims Lomachenko Has Two Weaknesses

Vasyl Lomachenko may be seen as the best fighter in boxing today pound for pound but former pound for pound number one Floyd Mayweather is not sold on him just yet.

Mayweather now finds himself as a promoter in the sport these days where matching one of his premier boxers Gervonta Davis against Lomachenko was a distinct possibility not long ago.

Talks on a potential fight between the two however seem to have cooled a bit in recent time.

But one can tell from Mayweather’s interviews he’s very much keeping an eye on everything in boxing at the moment, not just in terms of making fights, but what other fighters he can sign to Mayweather Promotions.

Whenever the subject of Vasyl Lomachenko comes up these days Mayweather often praises him but very recently was keen to point out some of his flaws.

Speaking to Fight Hype, Mayweather said:

“Lomachenko can’t take it to the body. Lomachenko can’t take it to the body and we already have seen that Lomachenko got knocked down and he didn’t even get hit hard. So anything can happen in the sport of boxing.”

Essentially pointing to Lomachenko’s punch resistance / chin and ability to take punches to the body as his two main weaknesses.

While Lomachenko was in his toughest fight last time out, arguably, against Jorge Linares, and did get dropped, he also showed immense heart to come back in the bout and take the victory it must be said.

Something all the great champions tend to do at one point or another in their careers.
