Pacquiao On Balancing Political Duties Ahead Of Matthysse Fight

Manny Pacquiao is an elected public official in his home country as well as the promoter of his own fight this weekend, so suffice to say, he’s been a busy man in the run up to it.

Some pointed to the amount Pacquiao has taken on outside his boxing career in recent years as a contributory factor to his decline in performance and focus inside the ring.

This time around however he seems to have put boxing first and foremost.

Speaking at the final press conference ahead of this weekend’s fight with Lucas Matthysse – Pacquiao said:

“It’s not easy being a fighter, a promoter and a politician and public service is not easy. Just time management. I have good people around me to work on this promotion. They work day and night to make this happen. Of course my work in the office I make sure I am doing my job and serving people as a public servant. Right now my focus is on the fight on Sunday and is to give inspiration to the Filipino people and boxing fans around the world. This is my focus right now. Right now I set aside all these things, all these things that can distract my focus (from boxing).”

If Pacquiao’s training footage is anything to go by he appears to have done much better with balancing his insanely busy life this time round.
