Trainer of Lucas Matthysse Joel Diaz is in bullish, confident mood ahead of his charge’s showdown with boxing legend Manny Pacquiao this weekend.

While bookmakers will tell you that Pacquiao is the favorite this weekend against Matthysse, it’s not by much.

He’s not a huge favorite and those in the know in the sport know that if Lucas Matthysse catches anyone clean with one punch he has the power to stop any welterweight in the world.

Pacquiao appears to have trained to move and out speed Matthysse but the Argentinian’s trainer Joel Diaz warned Pacquiao his fighter is revved and ready to go this weekend.

Speaking to the global media ahead of the fight Diaz said:

“The preparation for this fight with Lucas was great. He started it off in Argentina and finished it with me in California.”

He added:

“Stepping in against a great fighter like Manny Pacquiao is a tough task but nothing is impossible. We’ve got everything ready to go. Lucas Matthysse is not here for a paycheck. He’s here to bring his title home to his family and to his people.”

Diaz is intimately familiar with Pacquiao having trained Timothy Bradley in bouts against Pacquiao in the past.
