Khan Plays Down Crawford Talk, Prefers Pacquiao Fight

Khan On Fighting Pacquiao

Amir Khan is preparing for his second fight back since his two plus year hiatus from boxing next up but after this next fight, he’s eyeing the big fights at the end of the year. One fight in particular it seems.

Recently reports suggested that current pound for pound star Terence Crawford could be in line to face English boxing star Amir Khan but when questioned about it Khan cooled those talks a tad.

Khan admitted he spoke to Crawford’s promoter Bob Arum but mentioned he has his eyes on one of Arum’s other fighters.

Speaking to ES News, Khan said:

“I spoke to Bob a few times, look, the fight they would love to have is the Manny Pacquiao fight. I remember talking to Bob about it and Bob was really interested. It’s funny, Bob is changing things again. I mean, I’m with Eddie Hearn, Eddie is the guy who makes my fights and whoever he puts me in front of I’m ready for. I think after this fight against Samuel Vargas it’s time to step up against one of the big names.”

On how he did in sparring with Pacquiao in the past:

“Very well.Very well.”

Pacquiao fights Lucas Matthysse this coming weekend while Khan fights next September against Samuel Vargas.

So should both win, the earliest for a possible fight between the two would likely be December.
