Fight Preview and Prediction: Tommy Langford vs Jason Welborn

Peter Wells breaks down his Tommy Langford vs Jason Welborn prediction this weekend ahead of an interesting middleweight showdown.

Being billed as the battle of the Baggies, this British title clash at the Walsall Town Hall is set to be as explosive as the atmosphere in the building.

Langford has recovered nicely since a devastating defeat to Avtandil Khurtsidze, but faces a former Welterweight and Super Welterweight who has been drown out since stunning Marcus Morrison early last year.

Welborn 22-6(7KO’s) is a throwback much like Langford, and never disappoints with his level of effort in the ring. But previous attempts at British titles have ended in stoppage defeats to both Frankie Gavin and Liam Smith.

There is no shame in those defeats, nor in his excellent effort against Matthew Macklin in a narrow defeat.

Langford 20-1(6KO’s) has been in tough fights himself, but on this night he will be the fresher.

Welborn will rush Langford at every opportunity, but he will not quite have the power to deter Langford from controlling most of the action from range.

The local crowd are in for a treat, but Langford’s army will be the one’s celebrating victory, as Langford wins out a hard contest on points.
